FF Who Can Join

Israel’s National Fire and Rescue Services opens this project to professional and volunteer firefighters. Those who are prepared to assist the State of Israel’s first or second lines of civil defense workers is eligible to become a part of the project.

An individual who has successfully completed all training and examinations, has been certified as a firefighter and who is certified by their State to work in this profession.

Firefighters will be assigned to a specific fire service station in Israel and will operate according to the orders by the Israeli Fire Service officers.  Professional firefighters with a minimum of two years working experience are preferred.  All others will be evaluated on an individual basis upon request.

Criteria for Volunteers

• An individual who has successfully completed all training and examinations, has been certified as a Firefighter and who is certified by their State to work in this profession. Professional firefighters with a minimum of two years working experience are preferred. All others will be evaluated on an individual basis.

• Maintenance personnel, in particular mechanics experienced in the maintenance and repair of heavy vehicles and machinery.

1. Certified firefighters in accordance with local ordinances – for example, NFPA 1001.
2. Graduates of basic firefighting courses in their home communities with a graduation certificate.
3. Firefighters with another profession or specialty (E.M.T personnel, paramedics, construction and maintenance personnel, qualified mechanics).
4. All volunteers must be in a good state of health and must provide medical certificates attesting to this.
5. All volunteers must have a level of physical fitness (appropriate to their age) in accordance with the demands of the firefighting services of the United States.
6. A letter of recommendation either from their station chief or manager at their place of work.
7. All candidates will have a personal interview.
