Israel turns into a "winter wonderland" at least in the North.

Israel, well known for its sun, sea and sand also needs the winter.  So far, winter rainfalls have been good but more is still needed to fill Israel's main water supply, the Sea of Galilee.

Heavy rain is now falling across Israel and in the North, the Mount Hermon region has been closed due to very heavy snowfalls.  In the south, many roads in the Negev Desert have been closed as flash floods erupt out of previously dry valleys.

Jerusalem is also preparing for a "white weekend" with the municipality getting its fleet of snow clearing apparatus ready.  While we may not be used to snow and it can often catch us unawares - nothing is quite so beautiful as a snow covered Western Wall.
