The EVP team consists of some of Israel’s most experienced and dedicated professionals in the various areas of emergency aid. All have an immense amount of knowledge derived from their experience in emergency situations in Israel.
 
Many of the team personnel have experience on relief expeditions to other parts of the world suffering from major humanitarian emergencies. All team members have served in key positions in Israeli Emergency Services and know all too well what is demanded and needs to be done in times of crisis.
 
Our instructors belong to the emergency services that volunteers will be working with. They will ensure that EVP volunteers get the best training possible to prepare them the tasks that await them.

 

Adi Zahavi, EVP General Director 

Adi has always been involved with security and rescue issues. These range from being in charge of planning and coordinating security systems to direct responsibility for anti-crime and anti-terrorist preventive actions.

Since 2001 Adi has been involved with medical rescue operations and has been involved in the response to practically every terrorist attack in Jerusalem, Adi has wide field experience in trauma and mass casualty events.

 

Ken Kleiman, EVP Director of Operations

Ken Kleiman is a Lieutenant in the Israeli Fire&Rescue Services, commander of the regional hazardous materials unit in Natanya city and fire investigator - instractor.

 

Yossi Mendelovich, Head of volunteers teams in Israel

Yossi Mendelovich has been actively involved in Emergency Medicineand Emergency Medicine training for the past 15 years. He owns and operates an Emergency Medical training company working with the Israeli Defense Ministry, the Ministry for Homeland Security, the Prime Minister's office, Israeli Secret Services Personal Protection units and the Israeli Police Force / SWAT teams. During his years of army service, Yossi was commander of a medical unit in one of Israel's elite fighting units. 

 

Gail Lev, Director of International Relations

Gail made Aliyah to Israel from Los Angeles, California with her family over 7 years ago. She ran a successful allied health professions practice for 30 years and has been very involved in marketing and public relations for a number of nonprofit organizations in Los Angeles, many of which are affiliated with Israel, Israeli education and safety.  She also sits on many advisory boards. She felt her calling was to live in Israel where she believes she can have a greater impact and can continue to volunteer her time to Israeli causes. 

 

Lt. Colonel (Reserves) Danny Lacker, Safe Cities Coordinator in Israel

In addition to his role in the EVP, Danny works with the IDF'S Home Front Command and  heads the Israel Water Authorities Emergency Readiness Department which has factored EVP Safe Cities teams into its municipal response plans.

 

Billy Hirth, Coordinator of International Operations 

Billy is a 22 year veteran fire-fighter, Paramedic, and Technical Search Specialist for Texas Task Force 1. He has been involved in disaster response training and organizing for the past 10 years. Over the past 4 years, he has made several training deployments to Israel. He has served with the Israeli Fire Services as a fire-fighter and trained in Urban Search and Rescue with the Israel Defence Forces National Rescue Unit.  

 

 

Lee Ann Hirth, Coordinator of International Volunteers Department 

Gary Schiff spent much of his US Forest Service Career as the the Chief District Ranger for the Sierra Front. One of the most complex units in the National Forest System. Staff included one hundred fire fighting personnel:  seven fully staffed engines, the elite Black Mountain Hotshots, eight patrol units, a fuels management organization and the Minden Interagency Dispatch Center.  Gary now works in the Washington Office as the National Director for Land Stewardship.  Gary has hosted Israeli foresters and has visited Israel over a dozen times and along with his wife and three young adult children, plans to make aliyah.

 

Tom Welch, Coordinator of International Planning Department

Tom has been a Program Manager since 1982, responsible for multiple complex projects and services in many parts of the world.  He is a former volunteer firefighter and EMT and currently serves with CERT and his local Disaster Network.

 

Sue Welch, Coordinator of International EMS Department 

Sue is a retired Registered Nurse, having worked with post-operative patients and post-partum mothers, and having taught Childbirth Education classes. Sue is currently an Instructor for the American Heart Association and the Red Cross, and teaches CPR and First Aid to healthcare providers and community volunteers. She also delivers presentations on Disaster Medical Operations for a FEMA-based Community Emergency Response Team.
