Gaza terrorists firing rockets at Israel have been using local residents as human shields

“Civilians who were not part of the hostilities have been wounded in an Air Force strike on a terrorist cell launching medium-range rockets from a populated area in the northern Gaza Strip,” the IDF Spokesman’s Office said. “This incident shows, once again, that terrorist groups in Gaza use human shields and fire rockets from densely populated areas.”

Earlier on Monday, Palestinian sources reported that a strike at terrorists operating near a school in northern Gaza caused the death of a man and his daughter who were passing nearby at the time of the attack.

The IDF confirmed the report, noting that only after the strike did it become clear that civilians were hit.

'Some 25 Palestinians killed'

Earlier, military officials said that the current round of fighting between the IDF and terrorists is unprecedented in terms of the number of rockets directed at Israel. The IDF has recorded around 200 rocket launches from Gaza and is saying that the attacks are a “dramatic development in terms of the quantity and rate of the fire.”

Palestinian sources said that since the latest round of violence in the Gaza region began, some 25 Palestinians have been killed in IDF attacks and dozens more injured.

In Israel, MADA ambulance teams have treated over 35 people since Friday. One person was seriously injured, another sustained moderate injuries and a third person was lightly wounded by rocket shrapnel.  All other casualties were suffering from shock or minor injuries.

In total 21 people were treated for shock and another 11 injured while rushing to fortified areas.

"The use of civilians by terrorists as a human shield is nothing new", said one source.  "They regularly set up their launching sites next to hospitals, in school playgrounds and in peoples gardens.  Then, when we strike, they parade out the pictures of injured people, claiming that we are guilty of mass murder.  We even have video footage of dead people being driven to hospital and then, when the ambulance turns a corner, the "dead"  person gets out of the ambulance and walks away."
