According to a Sudanese newspaper, Israeli forces last week intercepted and destroyed an arms convoy attempting to smuggle weapons into the Gaza Strip for use by terrorists against Israel. According to the report, which has been neither denied nor confirmed by the Israeli government, the attack was carried out by the Israeli Air Force.

The report goes on to claim that Israel attacked targets in the Sudan twice last week in which vehicles carrying arms and munitions were destroyed and their occupants killed.

This is not the first time that Sudan has claimed that Israel has attacked its territory to destroy arms smugglers. In 2009 a large arms convoy for the Hamas was destroyed and in 2010 another attack was made on arms smugglers near Port Sudan on the Red Sea.
