The Emergency Volunteers Project (EVP) offers two unique and exciting opportunities to volunteer with the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF)
In a national emergency, hundreds of thousands of people will be in a situation where access to fresh, nutritious meals is limited or non-existent. Working through Israel’s Home Front Command, EVP has established a fleet of mobile kitchens that will be deployed to provide fresh, healthy meals to needy populations across Israel during and after national emergencies and disasters.
Community teams of 10 – 15 volunteers train to become certified volunteers in the IDF/EVP Emergency Mass Feeding program. A certification 9-day training is at EVP’s training and logistics center at an IDF base near Jerusalem where teams learn the fundamentals of disaster scenario mass feeding and go into the field to feed IDF units.
Following completion of training, participants are certified as EVP Mass Feeding Volunteers and authorized to volunteer in the IDF through EVP. Communities may send more than one team for training. Following training and certification it is suggested that teams of 10 – 15 volunteers undergo refresher training once every two years.
EVP offers a unique opportunity to meet Israeli soldiers and bring a smile to their faces as we travel across Israel to different IDF units to set up a “pop-up” kitchen in the field to prepare and serve meals such as fresh falafel, burgers, schnitzels, shawarma’s and BBQ’s prepared by our volunteers in one of our mobile kitchens / grills and BBQ’s.
Thanks to our unique relationship with the IDF, we are able to put a smaile of a soldier face, and at the same time give you an unforgettable experience.
EVP's ‘Make A Soldier Smile’ program works under the command of the IDF Volunteer Unit and part of the new feeding program in the IDF.
